Yeah it keeps showing the womens' Hep hurdles and men's multi 60m over and over.
Both great races though. Quote comment -

Congrats Guelph 4x800 teams in winning OUA golds. The races were very competitive. All the teams competing should be very proud. Excellent races.

Alex Cyr and Lewis Kent were on when I was watching earlier today, and they had Evan Ubene on as well. Their commentating is great, and they actually make things fun and interesting to watch when you don't have much knowledge of the athletes in each race. Quote comment -

Interesting stat; out of the past 8 OUA 3k champions (4 men/4 women) Western has won 6/8 with 4 different athletes. Pretty good results for what may not be considered a powerhouse distance program.

Yes, but did they provide commentary on the ejection of, apparently, banned spectators? Quote comment -

According to Michael Doyle's Twitter, the commentators were told not to talk about DST/Steve/Queen's/Guelph (https://twitter.com/mdfdoyle/status/1230940203151482880?s=19).
While the muzzle is troubling, I don't think those issues should be discussed on the live stream when the focus should be on the races, and the athletes on the track/in the field. Also, Steve was approached by York security half way through the fast heat of the Men's 3000m. They may not have even known anything happened until after the events were done for the day. "While the muzzling is troubling"?????? Yes, I think suppression of freedom of media is "troubling" and, I'm sorry, a little bit more important than who wins the 2020 OU 3000m race.

Their position as commentators at the OUA track and field championships is to do in exactly that - commentate on the races. If you want to listen to people discuss the news then tune in to a radio station, or start your own podcast if you want. Quote comment -

Absolutely more important, point taken. They should certainly be allowed to cover the OUA event without suppression.
However, I don't think it would have been appropriate for them to comment on York U security trying to eject Steve out without at least knowing what had happened. Maybe they knew the details, but maybe they didn't until later. Quote comment -

Yup, good to highlight the term ‘job’. Free speech doesn’t mean you can say anything at any time without consequence. As part of your job, if you’re asked to talk about the competition and not the background politics, that’s what you have to do. If you want to have your own personal opinions about Boyd, go to your own platform on your own time. Quote comment -

I'm not criticizing the commentators --what they comment on them is up to them and I can imagine they wouldn't want to comment on something they don't really know the background for (or likely didn't even know about) --what I object to is someone telling them beforehand what they can and cannot say -- and to anon, "commentators at the OUA track and field championships is to do in exactly that - commentate on the races" --according to you. I think providing "commentary" on absolutely vital issues in the sport falls under the role of "commentator." Again, though I'm not criticizing the commentators for how they defined their roles or for talking about what they wished to talk about --absolutely their prerogative to provide whatever commentary they wish to. And, to be frank, I wouldn't want to talk about these deeper/broader/ultimately more important issues on a live feed either --kind of above and beyond the pay grade. But what is looking like a multi-institutional (and possibly even coordinated?) suppression of discussion of fundamental issues in the sport is really frightening (and sorry "Mounty" I'd like to walk-back the tone of my first post [multiple question marks])

Definitely do not recommend doing that. Someone will report it to your boss and you'll be fired for having opinions on your own time on your personal account in a conversation where you could have been blocked and removed at any time if people didn't want you there. And then they'll harass and bully you in person. They learned it from their boss, who was untouchable for so long that they now feel they can do whatever they want without any consequences. They seem to be a little slow but that's likely due to the need to check the results and make them official. Excellent meet coverage and a well run meet. Quote comment -

Ryan won a silver in the 600m by 0.003 seconds. That's about 2 centimeters (or in the United States about 9/10 of an inch) difference between him and the bronze medallist. These close races may be what's taking the time to sort things out and get the official results out. No criticism - the results and meet have been great.

yes because Alex Cyr, Lewis Kent or Evan Ubene talking about any of the events with DST or Boyd would help resolve anything. There controversy of what should happen to Guelph and there is controversy about what happened with Steve. Those guys talking about it would just give everyone else to feed off of. Quote comment -

Toronto brought the hammer with Lucia anchoring, but Guelph's team depth outshines even the best individual on the track. Congrats girls Quote comment -

Thanks for tuning in! I think I can speak for Lewis and Evan here too - we had a great time announcing. But, we will not be back for nationals. Sounds like U Sports and U Alberta recruited locally this year, probably to save themselves a bit of coin.
I do want to stress the following, in case it got (rightfully) lost in other headlines : York’s media team killed it. Cameras, organization, execution, etc. It made it easy for the three of us to make our dumb jokes.
Michael Doyle’s Tweet was accurate. We were not to address the obvious and current issues of our running world on the stream. We were fine with that. I don’t think any of us wanted to bring it up anyway. I agree with a previous post on this thread: it would not have been our place, and I don’t think we would have had anything constructive or new to add in either discussion. At least not in this setting.
Hope you hear us on another stream soon! Quote comment -

So for those of us who were just results checking this weekend and weren't able to see how things panned out in the races, who were the really notable performers. Anyone winning with ease that wouldn't be noticeable from just seeing the results? or someone who went for broke and blew up

Athletes are eligible to race USports as long as they raced SOME event at the conference champs. See section 3.3.3 https://usports.ca/uploads/hq/Playing_Regs/2019-20/190625_PlayingRegs_Track_%26_Field_%28M%26W%29_v2.pdf Quote comment -

It seems that USports already took this point of artice in consideration in their latest rankings, as Brogan MacDougall was ousted from the top 12 in the 3000m. Quote comment
