paid $10 for a stream that doesn't even show the lead packs, nor do they even seem to know what they are talking about. wish i could've found the free stream sooner. this is garbage compared to the non-usports stream last year.

No wonder we only have a few skilled runners servive to run at uni! Under appreciated and under promoted! Maybe, if this was made available for Canadians to see, there would be more aspire to be the toughest and most talented athletes - RUNNERS!

Are runner's from non-scoring schools (i.e. schools with less than 5 runners) being removed before calculating the scores? I think that's how the rules used to be at least. For example if TWU only has 4 runners (as is shown now) there runner's positions should not count towards the team scores.

No respect for athletes at the end of women's race. Yes, more coverage at the front is fine and usually happens. But...completely unacceptable at the finish line to start interviewing the winner after number 30 or so and not allow people who paid $10 to see their kid finish. Not respectful at all. And then the interview with the winner did not have sound anyhow. Please show respect to all athletes at the end. Disgusted.

Why are the CAN-WEST runners being scored separately? They are pulling them out of the results and tabulating them only against other CanWest teams, but only in the men's race. Anyone know why?

    https://speedrivertiming.com/res/usxc18mt.htm

It's been updated and corrected. When I saw the original results with Guelph in first, I knew something must be wrong.

Black races smart. Did no work and let the others tire themselves out before going for the win. Smart racing. I know the predictions were that the western teams were only expecting 2 in the top 10. I believe they had 6. Congrats to the

Ok so here's the thing. What do we want as a sport? Are we trying to promote the sport to a wider, general audience of people or are we live streaming it so people can watch their kid on a grainy feed for like 2sec? tbh the first is a waste of time so might as well go for the second. Also, it's ten bucks like chiillllll.

did you want a bigger spoon to stir the pot? I’m guessing you weren’t here today to see us coaching the men’s team right after to try to reach their goals, or out on the course until 7:30 tonight taking the course down!

Did you really want to say Queen’s lost today,? but weren’t brave enough to come out and say it so you thought a shitty attempt at trolling would make us somehow look negative?

I’m only guessing here, but I imagine you’ve never strived for greatness? and certainly you’ve never failed before right? Yes we fell short of our team goal, but you know what Laval made history and crushed it today, and full props to them. One thing I’ve realized watching our program grow, is that even when we set high goals , and sometimes fail, the process and how we got there is often times much more enjoyable and rewarding. This team coming together and scoring 3 rookies was truly incredible. We lost to the better team today, our team can hang our heads high and use the motivation from clowns like you to come back even stronger next year. Because if anyone things Laval is going anywhere or Guelph is going to go away without a fight or that UBC is not going to come on strong, clearly isn’t paying attention. We have no plans of leaving the podium, and I think this shows the strength of our league right now!

Annnnnd you missed the point. The USports CHAMPIONSHIP is a high performance event, and thus, should be covered like one. That includes focusing on the people up front, interviewing the CHAMPIONS etc. That’s how competitive sports are covered.
Something like a stationary shot on the finish sounds more like something you’d see in a mass participation race....if that’s the case, maybe we should tell the announcers to switch up their content to talk about the sections of the course with the best cheering, and how every athlete is awesome just for getting on their shoes and running twice a week. Perhaps we could add 3,4,5,6...hell, a seventh team of all-Canadians...maybe age-group prizing too?

    Thanks Brant!
You've just defined class. The only issue I have is that you gave too much ground. 2nd and 5th is a "win" for the program --a huge accomplishment. And neither Queen's coach would ever leave any cross-country race (let alone one in which he had a team competing) for any non-emergency. Talk about definitions --for "love of the sport" see Brant and Steve.

The team podium isnt even decided by the time the 30th place guys roll in. Those are still super important finishes. At least wait until half the field of a championship race has finished.

Also still feel like your tone is a bit ridiculous coming from an age grouper himself.

"The team podium isnt even decided by the time the 30th place guys roll in. Those are still super important finishes. At least wait until half the field of a championship race has finished.

Also still feel like your tone is a bit ridiculous coming from an age grouper himself."

The first paragraph is valid, although if you read the initial complaint it was that the person was concerned because they couldn’t see their kid who rolled in after 30th place...that person was not concerned with knowing a team score, more so just witnessing that their kid finished, and 30 was just an arbitrary number choice. I stand by my high performance stance, and will also add that your point fits within the spirit of my message (a broadcast looking to inform of the major outcomes of the event).

Also, as an under 40 male, my class is open, and I am definitely not participating in high performance events, so that does not seem relevant.

Alright and I stand by my stance of someone demanding a change in culture for high performance should require a background in high performance themselves.

".if that’s the case, maybe we should tell the announcers to switch up their content to talk about the sections of the course with the best cheering, and how every athlete is awesome just for getting on their shoes and running twice a week. Perhaps we could add 3,4,5,6...hell, a seventh team of all-Canadians...maybe age-group prizing too?"

Wow. You really took some constructive criticism regarding the stream HARD with this response.

The guy was upset that he did not get to view the upper/middle group of finishers in a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP and you're out here saying things like if do that we should celebrate how those guys are awesome for "running twice a week" and the "best cheering" sections?

    Again, wow.

MilesDavisandTheCool, have you ever experienced making USports (or CIS) as an athlete? Probably not from your tone. Tons of work and energy go into making it to the big dance and performing while balancing school. So it's very disrespectful when you call athletes outside the top 30 mediocre and say we should applaud them for "lacing the shoes up twice a week" cause they are out training way more than that.
Secondly, who do you think is watching the live stream? The people who are watching are families of athletes, friends and teamates who could not make it out. Chances are, they are cheering for athletes finishing throughout the field at USports, not just the top group.
