Athletics for Kids, Kidsport and Jumpstart are three organizations that will cover sport registration fees for qualifying families, check their websites or bcathletics.org for details.
The BC athletic fee is a mandatory fee we must pay our governing body. With it, the athlete gets a BC Athletics number , becomes a BC Athletics and an Athletics Canada member which covers the athlete’s training and meet insurance, allows them to compete in all applicable sanctioned track and field, cross country, championship events, be eligible for provincial, national rankings and annual awards . As a participating member of VIAA ( Vancouver Island Athletic Association ) , Oceanside Track and Field , and its members are eligible to compete in VIAA meets at a reduced cost ( $15/day or $22/two days vs $15 /event).
Meet fees are not included in registration , except Victoria, OTFC will pay the fees for the OTFC athlete’s first three events. From late April to late June there are 5 optional weekend Vancouver Island Series Meets : Port Alberni, Victoria, Nanaimo, Duncan and Comox. We encourage athletes to participate in these meets and strive for their personal best. There will be information prior to each meet at practices and via email . An OTFC athlete can choose not to ‘meet compete’ and train only, let us know if this is your choice.
High school Midget and Youth OTFC athletes can participate in VIAA meets at a reduced cost. As an OTFC member with BC athletic insurance their high school track insurance fee is waived .
