Athletics Ontario will be facilitating our first Athlete panel via zoom on Wednesday, June 3rd from 1:00pm - 2:00pm.

The panel will feature two Team Ontario and NCAA athletes, Aurora Rynda and Liam Mather. The two athletes will share their own perspectives and experiences on how they have dealt with some of the disruptions caused by COVID-19, how they have stayed in shape during the time of self-isolation, some preparation steps they are taking for next season, and a small look into their journey as NCAA athletes.

Aurora is a Team Ontario middle-distance runner who just completed her sophomore year at the University of Michigan as a member of the women's track and cross country teams. In 2018, Aurora represented Canada at the Pan-American U20 Championship, where she earned a silver medal in the 800m with a time of 207:78. She is the reigning indoor 600m champion of the Big Ten conference, winning gold medals in the event both 2019 and 2020, Aurora is also the school record holder for this event. She was a member of Big Ten-record and school-record distance medley relay team, and was named USTFCCCA First-Team All-America for the 2019 indoor team.

Liam attends Colorado State University as a sprint hurdler on the men's track team. Liam is a current member of Team Ontario and was a 2018 Athletics Ontario All-Ontarian. He has represented Team Canada on numerous occasions, including at the 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships, where he ran a (then) personal best time of 13.93s for the 110m hurdles. Over the course of his collegiate career, Liam has battled injury yet made his CSU debut during the 2020 indoor season at Air Force Collegiate Open, finishing fifth in the 60-meter hurdles.

ALL Athletics Ontario members are encouraged to join in on the call! In addition to the athlete panel, you will have the option for a live Q&A session with the athletes.
