X REMEMBERS - SERGEANT BOWEN MEMORIAL RUN/WALK

X REMEMBERS RUN / WALK - In memory of Sgt. Tyson Bowen.

On Oct 30, 2022, we are inviting the StFX and greater Antigonish community to join us on a fun run / walk to raise money for Real Canadian Recreation (RCR). There will be 3 distances, 2.5 KM, 5KM and 10 KM.

RCR is a not for profit, eco-adventure park for veterans suffering with mental and physical injuries sustained in the line of duty. Details on RCR can be found here https://realcanadianrecreation.com

Real Canadian Recreation was founded by Tyson Bowen upon his release from the Canadian Armed Forces in 2018. Tyson served two combat tours in Afghanistan and was subsequently diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. Tyson’s leadership, vision, and motivation to look after his comrades has seen him turn a century old dairy farm into a gathering place for veterans to heal. Sadly Sgt (Ret) Bowen passed away on Sept 3, 2022 at the age of 35. There are many unfinished projects at RCR that require funding and all proceeds from the memorial run will be donated to Tyson’s mission at RCR.

Run will take place on StFX campus and starts at 11, please arrive at 1000 for registration check-in and opening ceremonies.

Walkers will use the track, while runners complete a 2.5km circuit to achieve either 5km or 10km distance. Running will be on mixed surface of track, paved road, and trail. The starting point for all participants will be on the track.

All ages and fitness levels are encouraged to participate!

Kids under 12 are free but a donation to RCR would be appreciated. Kids do not have to register to participate.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
