ASSUMPTION OF RISK, WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY

Event Name: Royal City Twilight Track and Field Meet
Event Dates: May 25, 2025 & July 20, 2025
Event Location: Alumni Stadium, University of Guelph, Guelph, Ontario

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING

In consideration of being permitted to participate in the Royal City Twilight track and field meet (the “Event”), I, the undersigned participant (or parent/guardian if under 18), hereby acknowledge and agree to the following:

  1. Assumption of Risk:
    I understand and acknowledge that participating in track and field events involves inherent risks, including but not limited to the risk of serious injury, permanent disability, or death, as well as property damage. These risks may result from my own actions, the actions or inactions of others, the condition of the facilities or equipment, or the weather conditions on the day of the event.
  2. Health and Fitness to Participate:
    I confirm that I am physically fit, have trained adequately for participation in the Event, and have not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical professional. I understand that it is my responsibility to consult a physician prior to participating, especially if I have any pre-existing medical conditions.
  3. Release and Waiver of Liability:
    I, for myself and on behalf of my heirs, assigns, personal representatives, and next of kin, hereby release and hold harmless:
    • The Royal City Athletic Club,
    • The University of Guelph,
    • Athletics Ontario and Athletics Canada,
    • Event officials, volunteers, sponsors, and partners,
    • And all other related parties and organizations,

from any and all claims, liabilities, demands, losses, or damages, including legal fees, that may arise out of or in connection with my participation in this Event, whether caused by the negligence of the released parties or otherwise.

  1. Media Release (Optional):
    I grant permission for the use of my name, image, or likeness in any broadcast, telecast, social media, or print account of the Event for promotional purposes, without compensation.
  2. Acknowledgment of Understanding:
    I have read this waiver of liability, assumption of risk, and release of claims. I fully understand its terms and that I am giving up substantial rights by signing it. I sign it freely and voluntarily.
