Waiver & Media Consent

This agreement must be signed before participating in any Mile2Marathon Coaching Inc. activities. If the participant is under 19 years old, a parent or guardian must sign on behalf of the participant.

By signing, the participant (and parent/guardian if applicable) confirms they understand and accept the terms of this agreement.

Activities

The participant is voluntarily taking part in running, athletics, strength training, and related fitness programming organized by Mile2Marathon Coaching Inc. (“Mile2Marathon”).

Activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Group runs and workouts

  • Training sessions and practices

  • Races, competitions, and events

  • Strength and conditioning sessions

  • Instructional clinics or coaching sessions

  • Personal training programs

  • Road running, track workouts, trail running, and cross-country running

  • Use of fitness equipment and training facilities

  • Travel to and from activities

  • Spectating or assisting at club events

These activities are collectively referred to as the “Activities.”

Acknowledgment of Risk

The participant understands that running and athletic training involve inherent risks that cannot be eliminated, even with proper care and supervision.

These risks include, but are not limited to:

  • Falls, collisions, or contact with other participants or objects

  • Muscle strains, sprains, fractures, and overuse injuries

  • Concussions or head injuries

  • Cardiovascular stress and physical exhaustion

  • Dehydration, heat illness, or cold exposure

  • Equipment failure

  • Unsafe terrain or environmental hazards

  • Remote locations where emergency response may be delayed

  • Exposure to communicable illnesses

Serious injury, permanent disability, or death is possible in athletic activities.

The participant freely accepts and assumes all risks associated with participation.

Responsibility of the Participant

The participant agrees:

  • They are physically and mentally fit to participate

  • They will follow instructions from coaches and organizers

  • They will act safely and within their personal limits

  • They will stop participation if they feel unsafe or unwell

  • They will use appropriate safety equipment

  • They will not participate while impaired by alcohol, drugs, or illness

  • They are responsible for their personal belongings

  • They understand Mile2Marathon may arrange emergency medical care if needed and they are financially responsible for those services

Anti-Harassment & Anti-Bullying Agreement

Mile2Marathon Coaching Inc. (“M2M”) is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants. Harassment, bullying, discrimination, and abusive behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated.

Definitions

For the purposes of this agreement:

Harassment means any course of unwelcome comment or conduct against an individual or group that is known, or ought reasonably to be known, to be unwelcome. Harassment is judged by the reasonable perception of the recipient, not the intent of the person engaging in the behaviour.

Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Verbal abuse, threats, or hostile outbursts

  • Persistent unwelcome remarks, jokes, taunts, or insults

  • Racial slurs or discriminatory comments

  • Hazing or humiliating initiation practices

  • Condescending or patronizing behaviour meant to undermine someone

  • Unwanted physical contact

  • Social exclusion or deliberate isolation

  • Sexual comments, advances, or gestures

  • Retaliation against someone who reports misconduct

  • False accusations made maliciously

Sexual Harassment includes unwelcome sexual comments, conduct, advances, or requests, especially where a power imbalance exists. Examples include sexist jokes, sexual remarks, inappropriate touching, persistent unwanted attention, or sharing sexually explicit material.

Bullying / Cyber-Bullying includes repeated hostile or harmful behaviour in person or online, including insults, threats, spreading rumours, harassment through social media, texts, or email, or any behaviour intended to intimidate or humiliate another participant.

Participant Responsibilities

All participants agree to:

  • Treat others with dignity, fairness, and respect

  • Refrain from harassment, bullying, discrimination, or abusive behaviour

  • Avoid using social media to insult, threaten, or harass others

  • Support a positive and safe sport environment

  • Report serious incidents of harassment or bullying

This agreement applies during all M2M activities, events, travel, communications, and online interactions connected to M2M.

Consequences

Any participant who violates this agreement may be subject to disciplinary action, including removal from activities, suspension, or termination of participation, at M2M’s discretion.
