Kawauchi winning Boston is great for the sport. Hope his public profile grows as a result, the dude is a legend

    PVR is still a thing?

I'm surprised at all the elite DNFs. If you know you don't want to slog it in shit weather, why toe the line?

Are appearance-fees still a thing? Don't you have to finish to collect?

Appearance fees are definitely still a thing at Boston. Elites get 50% if they start but don't finish.

Ok, there is an example of a couple of morons. They should at least start by getting his name straight..

Rawson and Trautwig, as illustrated here, are really poor announcers. Rawson butchers the call most years.

The better broadcasting alternative was Tim Hutchings and Craig Masback. It would be interesting to compare their narrative of the race to this drivel.

Maybe Rawson has been "the voice of the Boston marathon" for too long. 44 years?

Short version-ultimate winner went out hard. "Moron" announcers basically made fun of him and his tactics while butchering his name.

To be fair, someone always goes hard in the first mile and is rarely heard from again. Not getting the name right is inexcusable though because while he may not be one of the top elites, he's still a well-known runner. Is it wrong to say it's typical American arrogance?

A combination of stupidity and arrogance. If one of the three USAians who have run faster than him would have gone out like he did, I suspect they would have thought it was brilliant.
