One would think that results would at least be close to live for a national championship and international combined events competition... however, they aren't at all. The U18 and U20 decathletes are done for the day, yet they don't even have high jump results up yet, and showed no times (except for very incorrect ones for one heat) for the 400s. Senior men's long jump has been done for long enough that they've started shot put...

Why is so difficult to get ANY results? It was like this last year too and in the Indoor stuff. Maybe another company should take over?

Anyone else find it annoying when the class of the fields sits and kicks? Matt Hughes didn't even help and blasts past his competitors in the final lap. Very poor sportsmanship and not a fan of Hughes

It would be nice if the commentator actually knew that the winner of each event qualifies for NACAC REGARDLESS of whether or not they hit the standard, instead of repeatedly saying in the 5000m "it's a slow race so Flanagan won't hit standard/make the team even if he wins". Honestly how on earth do you not know this when qualifying for NACACs is one of the main outcomes from this meet....I think Alex Genest is aware but doesn't want to embarrass the main commentator.

While he’s at it, he could learn:
    1) it’s not Jessica O’Donnell...I mean ffs, she’s been one of our fastest of all time for how many years now?

    2) Andrea...not Awn-Dre-Ah...and the last name is kind of hard, admittedly...but he’s the announcer at the national championships...so maybe he could power through it?

    3) Victoria Coates is not some no name runner who just appeared...she’s represented Canada multiple times...she deserved a little more respect.

    4) The fawning over Sasha Gollish has almost become a calling card and crutch of the unprepared...and this is coming from a moderate fan of hers.

Alex is cool...but the play by play was bush league.

Huge respect for Victoria Coates for going for it in the 5K! And not a lot of respect for Sasha Gollish for doing zero work in that lead pack.

All day they have been using seed times as PB's LOL
then saying "wow huge PB for that kid"

also, 2 of the 3 announcers are American :)

Couldn't agree more. And since he doesn't seem to know who any of the athletes are (aside from Gollish) - maybe he could ask Alex beforehand, since he actually knows the people involved?

Fully agree...I actually can't believe how many things were incorrect, even for example saying that Lalonde had a shot at the meet record of 9:37 when she was at 9:30 or so with about 100m to go....I mean I know we're some of the more hardcore fans posting on here but C'mon....

While you're at it criticizing Sasha why not also mention Seccafien, Knight, Mohammed, Lalonde and Hughes, ALL of whom waited until the ends of their respective races to make their moves. Knight didn't lead at all in the men's race, just like Sasha in hers. Seccafien, Mohammed, Lalonde, and Hughes all waited until the final couple of laps.

Accidentally sent my previous post before I had finished it:

Sasha's 5k time this season on the Athletics Canada rankings page is 15:43, which she ran in the same race that Jessica ran 15:18. Andrea had a 15:15 going into this race. Is it really all that unreasonable that she would just go out and try hang with the leaders rather than pushing the pace again people who have run almost 30 seconds faster than her this season?

It looked like Coates was talking to herself the whole race.
Like she ran in pissed off mode.
It was awesome, and would have been so sweet if she took the W.

In the end though, she could have sat behind SG all night and maybe have scored a 3rd place ribbon.

You need tears for those eyes?
Maybe the other runners should try harder in practice and run the times neccessary to challenge Hughes. Star Hughes can do what he wants. This was a joke. If you aren't able to run sub 8:30 for the Steeplechase, you are wasting your time. You know what Hughes is capable of. I'm actually happy he showed them all who the boss is at the end. Hughes should even participate in this meet, until there is someone who can actually challenge him. It's honestly a waste of his time, but obviously he wants that National Championship Title. Matt should have ran the 5000m if he wanted the real challenge.

1,2,3 for former teenage stars in the Senior Men's 5000m lol. Had Hughes been in that, it would have be 1-4 all OFSAA Champions.

Really...This guy has shown nothing but class and good sportsmanship his entire career on and off the track. I was in Ottawa last year...Pretty sure he lead almost the entire race and pushed the pace right from the start. Each race is different and at the end of the day its a "Race" not a charity event. Don't understand why it incumbent upon these defending athletes to lead the race. You want the belt go get it.

Guys been representing his Country since he was a kid. 2 NCAA Champ, 5x Canadian Champion and 3000m Steeplechase record holder, PanAM Gold, Olympian and absolute beautician. Doesn't owe anybody a thing.

Stop your whining and maybe start putting in the work this kid does.
