"I only ever see threads for OFSSAA. Are BC athletes not relevant nationally? Thoughts anyone?"

Pretty thin on the whole predictions front after 4,000 or so views. A more exciting group of contenders in last year's crop perhaps? Especially in Senior Boys. Taryn and Grace may be the race to watch this year. Wyatt and Wyatt coming in 1,2 not so much. Also, great to see edge of the universe BC in a thread title for a change. .

90% of the posters are from the east and in their minds Canada ends at the Manitoba border

Grace is no match with Taryn in the final lap, Taryn's kick is too much for the competition.

I think the best race with be Senior Men 3000m. There's quite pack of 5 or 6 that distinguish themselves from the rest.

Interesting in the Women's division with the exception of Grace, Madison and Taryn the Junior girls are stronger and deeper than the seniors in the 800, 1500, 3000 and SC.

Depending how a few of them survive puberty the future of middle distance in BC is very exciting.

Senior Boys 800m is weak this year, I predict the 2 or the fastest men in BC are in the Junior race.

Taryn and Grace went 9:22.05 and 9:33.71 respectively in 2017 in the 3000m U20 division (second and fifth place in the Athletics Canada rankings for that year). BC middle distance girls (and Albertan ladies too!) ARE relevant nationally. BC middle distance juniors coming up the ranks not too shabby either. Puberty can take its toll for sure. But if you're smart, the focus should be on long-term development - and not getting too caught up in record-breaking 15 year olds. After high school, many gifted athletes get eaten up by the US college system. You could say no one cares about high school track, but for the athletes - somehow it's a lot more fun.

My money's on Nico Aron. Shame Owen Pinto isn't running this year? Matti Erickson might do a Pre - never seen a kid leave it all on the line like he does.

Final (or almost final) performance lists - and seed times - are up for Juniors and Seniors . And yes, Junior Boys would appear to the ones to watch for the fastest times.

1500m times for several Juniors are good too. Keaton Heisterman and Fraser Van Allen on a par with many of the Seniors. No seed time for Matti Erickson. Possible wild card? 1, 2 and 3?

Matti is very slight and is form is amazing. He bested Keaton in the XC Champs quite easily but I am not so sure he can do it in this shorter distance.

Matti would have runaway with the 3000m which is probably why he chose to run the 800m

Grade 9 Kate Stewart-Barnett ran 10.22.49 at the Oregon Relays - only four Seniors have better seed times. She will also likely take steeplechase. and medal in the 3000m.

"Stewart-Barnet, Kendra Lewis and Maya Kobalanski my bets to medal in the Junior 3000m. Stewart-Barnet may wear herself this weekend competing in High School Heptathlon Championship and running 3 events to qualify for BC Summer Games on the same weekend. That's a lot of running!! If Kendra is over her illness she may run away with it."

Stewart-Barnett was a no-show at the Heptathlon. Likely saving herself for this week's championships..

Judging by the draft performance list, Kendra is in good form. Seed times are automatically entered from zone championships results. Much faster times for some in Oregon and elsewhere this year.

Performance list is very deceiving because many athletes run just hard enough at Zones to qualify for the race. In Fraser Valley Zone the Top 8 qualify there is no reason to run hard.

Senior Men's 100m and 200m unbelievably weak. Why is this? It looks there could be zones where senior boys don't do track at a lot of the schools.

OMG Kendra Lewis destroyed the Junior Girls field in the 1500m final. How fast was she? Well....if she had run in the senior 1500m she would have handily beat Grace Featherstonhaugh and claimed the silver medal!!!

I predict she will set a new meet record in the 3000m Junior final with Stewart-Barnet and Kobalanski claiming silver and bronze a mile behind Kendra.

Are we seeing the next high school girl superstar in the making this weekend???

Both of Hannah Bennison's 3000m meet records (Junior and Senior) were utterly obliterated by Lewis and O'Neill
