BC HS XC Season & Champs at risk

BC teachers are without a contract and there are threats that they will begin with a "work to rule" job action. This will mean no extra sports, etc.

Here we go again.....

How will this affect the newly created “sports academies” at BC schools?

Why would we begin any job action? All that are on the table is 2-2-2 (which is what we will end up getting) and concessions. By not doing anything we get to keep running the schools under the old contract and when the deal is eventually signed, we will get our pay raise in back pay to September. Job action would make no sense.

Work to Rule is different than a strike. A few years ago the teachers went on strike for almost 3 months.

And I'll say again. Why would we do ANY TYPE of job action? It would be senseless. Also, the type of work to rule where you don't do extra curriculars is stupid and counter productive. It upsets the membership who coach and has become quite contentious within the union in recent years. The biggest problem is that it immediately makes us the bad guys to parents and the public with little to no pressure on the employer - we just direct everyone's ire at us.

Just for fun why don’t you give us your source for this bit of nonsense....other than thin air.

Just to be clear, two of those months were July and August so the strike was really just June of 2014 and yes, the provincial meet did occur that year.

    Wrong again buddy.
Students missed the first three weeks of classes in September and the last two weeks of classes in June, for a total of 27 instructional days.
    School restarted on September 22nd.

I’m guessing you live in Ontario???
