When are we going to start sending a team?

The format in recent years has been UK vs. UK Under 23 vs. USA vs. Europe. It would take some strong lobbying on the part of AC to break into this very competitive format -- even if AC had any inclination to do that.

And as World XC is now every two years, my thought is that AC would have little to no interest in pushing for a Canadian team on the off years, where the race would serve no purpose as a prep. for Worlds.

Why not Team North America (USA/CAN/MEX) as an option?
Wouldn't that be easier, so that AC wouldn't have to send as many athletes. They could just send 1 or 2, if they even make the cut.

The USATF would have to be magnanimous I think to be receptive to some kind of "Americas" team, if there was the impetus to do it by us and Mexico.

Given the US "miracle" team Silver in the Senior Men's at Worlds in Poland several years ago, and the third-place finishes by the Senior Women in '10 and '11, I would reason that they wouldn't be too interested at this point in cutting back the international XC exposure for World XC-prepping athletes.

The Americans have recently been sending full complements (Junior/Senior Men; Junior/Senior Women) to the Edinburgh event, so currently there seems to be some momentum in their international XC program they seem interested in preserving.

Totally agree with you Andrew. It would also be great to show them that we can beat them. Now, if only we can find enough athletes.
