I'm bored, let's make a running playlist.

I'm guessing many people are running with music by themselves, meaning they are probably already tired of all their songs. Lets throw a bunch of favourite workout/running songs for people to look through.

Never Gonna Give You Up - Rick Astly: I run faster to escape it, but there is no escape.

The Keeper's Trilogy - Helloween: a cheesy rock/metal opera about Halloween. The perfect amount of double bass drum. It's 17 minute length is perfect for a 17 minute workout.

The Complexity of Light - Children of Nova: singer sounds like he's been kicked in the junk more times than Getty Lee, still really fun though. Also bongos.

(Don't Fear) The Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult: the cowbell is your metronome. Live by it. Die by it.

Your turn,

Peace.

To be honest, I don't usually listen to music when I run as it tends to distract me from what I am supposed to be paying attention too, but if I'm on a treadmill, there is no way I'm not putting music on, simply to distract me so that I'm not paying attention to what I am doing.

I've had a bit of fun with some music workouts on the Deadmill - , hard one song, easy the next (sucks when you go hard for Smoke on the Water and then only get to recover for Song 2 or Bleed It Out), 3k effort for the first two minutes of a song recover the rest, 1500 effort the first 75 seconds of a song, recover the rest. The randomness of the playlist determines the workout and provides a little diversity.

I like to start out runs with Marilyn Manson (Beautiful People), just something about the drums / rhythm. After that, and it's a fairly odd mix, but anything from Rage Against the Machine, Beastie Boys, Twenty One Pilots (stuff from Vessel is best), Linkin Park and the Lowest of the Low.

I find a good way to keep your mind off of running is through concept albums with a cohesive story.

Lots of Pink Floyd is good for that, especially The Wall

The Black Parade album satisfies the Punk concept album itch

Also The Dear Hunter has lots of good concept albums
