Phil won the 1976 NCAA JT, Boris Chambul won the DT, and Scott Nelson won the HT, one of Scott’s 4 wins. Canada kicked shell, as the Teenage Mutant Turtles say, in the throws of that era.
We will be up there again, I am sure. We had some decent shot putters then, as well, like Bishop,
Bruno, etc. These guys were all huge, and scary looking.

Don't forget Jane Haist NCAA discus champion in 1977. Lucette Moreau and Carmen Ionesco were from the same era. They were NOT huge or scary looking.

Jane was a good friend, and trained at my facility. I trained with Lucette a lot, as she lived near me. She was the first woman that I saw do reps in the power clean with 100kgs. Carmen Ionesco arrived in Canada from Romania fully formed, as one of the best in the World. I’m not sure what you mean that they weren’t huge and scary. They definitely were not small, shrinking violets.

Great javelin thrower. Threw 89 meters at Montreal Games qualifying and finished 11th at age 19. He may not have been the guy who resulted in the decision to change the javelin center of gravity so it didn't go as far, but he definitely was one of the guys moving the decision makers in that direction. You throw 89m at most track meets and the javelin lands on the track or close to it..

Rick Dowswell was also from that era, and trained with us in Montreal in 75-76. Won NCAAs in 1972.
