Exceptions are permitted provided the proper paperwork was completed.

For example, if they recently moved into the area.

I think the penalty for being a rat is more.

Or if they switched living arrangements between parents or other legal guardian, or changed schools for a legit reason like bullying or specific program/academic needs. There may be more to it than you are aware of.

your athlete director must submit and ofsaa transfer application you your athletic association. If discovered, may recieve sanctions as severe as a possible ban. Pickering high from memory has been on the negative end of this more recently.

There are several ways an athlete can be declared eligible when they have changed schools.

The association, then OFSAA will rule on the issue if necessary.

Nice theory but name some track athletes who have been able to race just because their parents bought a new house? Or because the kid transferred to a different HS in his/her same neighborhood?

I could actually name several, but for privacy reasons, I won't. We've had athletes move into our area and participate the same year. In one case, the athlete had divorced parents and she simply used her father's address, instead of her mother's address for school. She split time with both parents.

We've had an athlete come to our school who due to financial reasons, had to leave a private school and come to our school (his local HS). We also had an athlete come to us from another school where she had been bullied (a grad car rally actually had, as one of it's items a lock of her hair - it was naturally shockingly blonde) and needed a change of environment.

All these athletes were declared eligible by our local association and OFSAA. To the best of my knowledge only one of them was a really strong athlete, but all of the above participated at OFSAA Championships. I'm sure there are many, many more that transfer and never compete at the OFSAA level, but are still eligible.

We moved in the spring of 2014 & my daughter was declared eligible to compete for her new school that fall after completing the appropriate paperwork. It is not overly complicated.
