It's incredible that this kid has been running track for only 2 years.

Excellent race and time! When was the last time we had 2 Canadian men ranked in the top 20 in the 800 metres? My guess would be 1932 when Alex Wilson and Phil Edwards finished 2nd and 3rd at the Los Angeles Olympics?

What about Gary Reed and Tadili? They ran at the same time.

I forgot about Tadili. The best ranking for Tadili that I could find was 28th in 2006, but yes they were a good duo!

He reminds me a lot of Rudisha in the way he runs. Looks super easy even when he’s running 51 for an opening lap. I remember racing against him 2 years ago and thinking this is probably an Olympian in a few years.

I predict he’ll be representing Canada at Tokyo 2020 and might just make the final.

To top it off he is probably one the nicest and most humble guys I have ever met. Best of luck to Marco In the future and congrats on a fantastic college season.

Can anyone grasp that Marco just ran 1:44.25 to win Pan-Ams?? This is a kid who only 3 years ago decided he'd give the 800m a go. ONLY 3 YEARS PEOPLE!!!

    Check out the race:

This result needs a bit more kudos! Arguably the best breakthrough this year along with Stafford. Another year and he may well run with anyone!

Great run by Marco. Really humble guy and super talented. He helped out a local meet here in July. Had a nice chat with him. He's going to be a great 800m runner. Cheers
