Phoenix Athletics Association

Fact: Bill has helped 2 athletes achieve OFSAA Record performance over 800m in the last 11 years.

Andrew Heaney - 1:48.26 (Senior Boys 800m Record 2007)
Abdullahi Hassan - 1:53.54 (Junior Boys 800m Record 2018)

I strongly believe that any GTA Highschool male athlete aspiring to run well for distances of 100m to 1500m should seek out this club

Did he do this on his own? Did this club have other coaches in the past that were pretty darn good?

Speaking of Pheonix Athletics I believe they are hosting an 800m and long jump night at Birchmount stadium Thursday June 28th. I am sure Hassan will be looking to run a fast one there.

Bill's legacy of excellence goes far beyond these two. 800m seems to be his 'sweet spot'.

Seeing Bill over the year age has broken my heart. I know he had something medical a few years back. I remember the years of training through 2006-2009 with pheonix and man hes a great guy. He was an ass an all, like all coaches i add parenthetically, but yah. a great man with great success to his name over the years.

    First part most definitley.

But Bill has had athletes with great results from 60m indoors to XC.

Marlon Laidlaw Allen. Remember when this guy ran 10.42?
    https://www.toronto.com/sports-story/78850-laidlaw-allen-wins-ofsaa-sprint-gold-medals-nearly-matches-long-standing-canadian-record/

Or as a Junior when he ran 10.77
    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Eapx-EP5LJo

Nate Brannen, Matthew Lincoln, Kyle Smith, Walid Berkhedle, Merid Seleshi, Aaron Brown, T.J. Samuels, Matt Kopansky, Mark Davidson, Scott Nesbitt, Jacob Milligan, Ryan Finn, Andrew Costello, Ben De Vito, Elijah Silva, Edward Hayfron, and now Abdullahi Hassan.

Bill has been helping athletes achieve their goals for a very long time.
There are probably dozens of athletes I haven't included on the list above who deserve to also be mentioned. Here is one of the articles for when Aaron Brown and Merid Seleshi got scholarships.

Maybe it's just an affiliation with the Phoenix club.
But I'm sure as an affiliate, Bill had some role in offering Nate advice.
    Maybe someone can confirm.

You give an athlete advice and are now considered "coaching" them?

Rocharn Wilson 3:57.33 (keep an eye out for him next year)
Abdullahi Hassan 3:57.85 (this kid is amazing. 200m -1500m are excellent for a kid just finishing Grade 10). The kid beats Ben Carson in the process.
Ibrahim Kedir 3:59.60. I swear this kid needs to run a 5000m or 10k Road Race. I strongly feel he'd be even better suited for the longer distances. Still a good time.

Never seen Bill Stephens so excited about Track and field. Talk to him tonight about his 800m night and he was telling me the 800m Long Jump night should be exciting with two sub 206 females and three sub 1:50 runners coming from HOKA NJ _NY track club on June 28th to compete.
