My hat and mitts smell like wood smoke. Who's brilliant idea was it to have a bonfire in the warm up area of a x-country race?

In what way? Some of us were not there to see it. Too flat?

It was a very unsafe course many ruts and potholes but the tougher athletes rose to the top

Lol PhoenixAthletics is being a little dramatic. It was muddy and icy, then the surprise tree or rock when trying to avoid the mud or ice. In some parts of Ontario we just call it cross country running! It was a great well organized event.

Downhill icy finish followed immediately by a sharp turn left many athletes falling and sliding into spectators at full speed. Nice medals.

Regarding the course, overall I think it accomplished the thing that makes XC XC -- that is it did not allow the athlete to get into a rhythm. Whether it was turns, small hills, camber, or bad footing, one could not settle in. And that is where the "XC specialist" makes hay (NPI, though the event was hosted in a horsey area). Track and road running mavens should not, I think, simply continue to be rewarded with benign XC courses.

My only criticism of the course was that, despite an attempt by organizers to bring all the loops back to a central viewing point, it was still difficult for spectators to see what was going on for much of the time. That is where a "heath courses" like Fort Henry and Plaines d'Abraham is better, in terms of promoting the sport of cross country.

Great courses, strength based and back to the old days of real cross country. Fun to watch the strategies of spike lengths. Too bad more athletes don't deem this meet important. For some too young to go to nationals it is their end of season. Fields were quite small even in the older ages and the senior races were just pathetic in terms of who showed up.(thanks to the athletes who did, if that sounded like I am saying you are pathetic, definitely not my intent) If we want to sell this it has to be a full on participation by all. No coverage as well either online or in youtube videos so how does anyone know about the event. I also say "Awesome Medals" . .
