Vegetarian athletes need to focus on getting sufficient energy and protein from their diet as well as key nutrients such as iron, zinc, calcium, vitamin D, omega-3 fats or more depending on the type of vegetarianism. Speak to a Registered Dietitian to make sure you are getting the proper amounts of vitamins and minerals and before considering taking a supplement.
