Love it! Absolutely love it. No question Dulhanty should have been Dq'd, I don't think anyone else should have, but I love how they tried to get Seneca the qualifying spot. What an awesome last 600m

Wilkie should have pulled a Guy Schultz.
Quote comment
In the semis at AO's one year, Dave Lorne and ?? were 1-2 coming down the stretch (top 2 auto-qualify) and Shultz tried to come from behind and go between them. There was a body width gap between them, but one of them TRIED to shut the door, but Shultz would have none of it. He grabbed both runners shoulders and literally vaulted himself between them to win the semi. Lorne was pretty ticked, but also qualified so...oddly enough there was no DQ.
Shutlz did in in an 800 heat (not a 3K with 600, with only 15m to go....but just sayin'...
Also, as much as Dulhanty deserved his DQ, I wonder about the actions of Hendrix with 100m to go. He pulls out from lane one into lane 2, in front of Tree and then deliberately slows to allow Dulhanty to get by on the inside (you can see him looking over his shoulder and once Dulhanty is through, accelerates again). Is not deliberately moving out of your lane into another runners path obstruction?? Although I guess he could argue he was trying to go around Proudfoot - good luck with that. -

It looks like Wilkie was trying to box in Proudfoot and Hendrix. He also look like he was lumping for the last two laps. Pretty funny race to watch and fun.m

If this happened, which it should have - Guelph would have lost the team title. Quote comment -

Would have been 141.50 Guelph, 139 Windsor actually. Quote comment -

while i agree dulhanty should have been and possibly proudfoot as well, should have gotten dqs i dont think hendrikx should have been. its common for athletes to move across a lane to hold a position or make another athlete run wide. i didnt notice any real physical contact or any strides really impeded by him

Were it my call to make, Wilkie should also have been DQed as well for his unsportsmanlike gesture, whether it was deserved or not.
I certainly hope the OUA reviews the relevant rules regarding this "strategy". If we condone this kind of behaviour, what's to stop teams from throwing a couple defensive linemen on the start line to tackle opposing teams' top scorers? This post was edited by LSM 7 years ago .Quote comment -

No DQ for Wilkie of Queens? I've witnessed athletes get DQ'ed for foul language/unsportsmanlike conduct. Flipping the bird definitely falls under that category. Quote comment -

Here's hoping the head referee for the OUA isn't the same for the CIS finals. He or she definitely missed some calls

I'll give Guelph props for having a great program and spitting out the top runners year after year but crap like this just makes me cringe. At CIS in Edmonton Romaniw did the look back and let his teammate pass him. They see it as being a a great teammate but have some gosh darn respect for other runners in the race. Watching this race.....reaching out your arm so a competitor doesn't get ahead of your teammate. . At CIS, I'm cheering for anyone but Guelph. I really hope some University can get a team together and take down the Guelph Dynasty.

I hope you mean their cross country dynasty, and not a track and field dynasty. That would be confusing otherwise. Quote comment -

Regardless of what the track referee called it was the jury who decided the final results. Plus video was reviewed to make the final ruling and this is what they came up with. Quote comment -

Tripping is one thing. But a little shoulder rubbing is insignificant. In road cycling races riders often rub shoulders when traveling at speeds over 50 kph and don`t get disqualified.

Wow, this is disgusting, if this happened in the NCAA all 3 would have been DQ'ed. Not only do I think they should have been DQ'ed but I think there actions merit a suspension. I hope if they do it again someone takes 5 in the box to send a message.

going into the race all the other runners knew Guelph would try this and they should have picked up the pace far earlier to prevent it

fair to try to set up the wall, but I don't think any reasonable person would have thought that they would resort to blatant fouls in order to keep others from passing wide.

How is it Guelph has 4 guys? Used to be 3 max. Does defending champ or time qualifying get you an extra guy?

This is a rough idea of the rule, but you have a certain amount of entries for the men's team, so they can load up to 4 per event if they are stronger at that event. Just might mean there are 2 in the pole vault or something like that. Quote comment -

3 is the max per event. You are allowed to submit 4 only if all 4 are ranked in the CIS top 16 at the time of meet entries. Ergo, Guelph was able to send 4 dudes for the 3k. Quote comment -
