    I think when the alberta guy pushed everyone he tightened up, tried to fight through it and then realized it wasnt worth it cuz of the 4x400

    I heard he wanted to run because of team points and possible shot at coming top 3 team. He still ran a mean split in that 4x4 to put UofT back in it.

    If someone bumped him earlier in the race and that affected his race then yeah I feel for him, I know how much that sucks. There doesn't appear to be any bumping leading up to the DNF, the field is pretty spread out at that point.
    It looks like Smart starts near the back and gradually works his way through the field, getting up to 6th place with a decent gap behind him. I've seen guys drop out after people pass them, maybe because they're no longer scoring points or something, but I'm not used to athletes moving up through the field and then dropping out when they're in a better position.
    Good to hear he bounced back and ran a solid 400m later in the day.
