What's the big secret? She's a full time paid pro racing a bunch of teenagers who are doing homework between events or rounds.

    So what's the 3k pace? what's the 1500 pace?

Presumably if she said what the paces were, you and everyone else would be fixated on her prediction for the USports pace as opposed to paying attention to what the guiding principles of the workout were for someone in her position (potential medal favourite).

What's with the 'BestCoach' moniker not really understanding basic coaching or training?

I think it's quite impressive for Sasha to be racing against a bunch of (supposed) teenagers when she's turning 37 this year. Add in the fact she is training for a half-marathon AND doing her PhD in engineering education and you have one brave woman!

only several thousand video's on flotrack where we get ALL the numbers of EVERY rep.
The hay is in the barn buddy if you're fit, telling us the numbers won't matter one bit.

Good stuff Sasha! I think a lot of kids have no idea what a "pre-race workout" is, so taking them through what you do is great. I think you said 2.5 days in advance, so assume this was Wednesday morning.

And your fixation on the exact splits for a tune-up workout is a great reason why NOT to provide the numbers as the whole goal of the workout was geared towards the race pace of that specific athlete, not give target times for you and everyone else to try and replicate.

It doesn't matter whether you are a 9 flat or a 10 flat 3000m runner if the instructions are a couple 400s at 3000m pace.

Saying the times were 72 seconds is only going to result in the 10 flat funner trying to duplicate the workout and running harder than they should be.

Why would a 'BestCoach' repeatedly demonstrate that they know very little about actual coaching?

Ohhhhh OK now I get it.
She's a superhero who just saved a bunch of little girls from running too hard by not telling us the splits.

    Makes sense now.
    Thanks

PS my athletes run workouts based on their own fitness, not somebody else's.
The flotrack workouts are interesting and entertaining but I doubt your coach is using those numbers to come up with workouts LOL

Is Golllish running the half marathon world championships? Great taper workout for the USports track championships, lousy workout for a half marathon in a few weeks.

I'm glad you now get it. Your single-mindedness on the splits for a short tune-up workout just seemed to make no sense.

A self coached novice by any chance?
