Kajaks Track and Field Junior Development Program is now open for registration, and we are looking forward to a fun, challenging and successful season.
The Kajaks JD program is suitable for athletes ages 9-13 who have a passion for track and field, who are coachable, and who want to improve their skills and fitness in a variety of track and field events. JD athletes come to practice to challenge themselves in a variety of disciplines, they strive to reach their personal bests, and enjoy competing in local track meets.
Through experienced, certified, and enthusiastic coaching, the goals of the JD program are to:
Build fundamental Run, Jump, Throw skills in a fun environment, which challenges all athletes to reach their potential.
Age appropriate training
Encourage competition at local track meets
Foster a friendly and supportive training group and parent community
Build passion for life long sport and healthy living
Fostering a culture of volunteerism through the club
Training dates and times:
April 2nd to July 19th, 2026
Mondays: 4:45-6:15pm
Wednesdays: 4:45 - 6:15pm
Thursdays: 4:45-6:15pm
Weekends: BC Athletics Track Meets
Practices will take place at Clement Track and Collier Throws Centre in Minoru Park, Richmond.
PRE-SEASON PRACTICES will take place during Spring Break - your athlete must be registered by March 13th to be invited to these FREE practices!
Fees for the season are $570.00, payable online with a 5% convenience fee, or by etransfer to info@kajaks.ca (security word: orange). Payment plans are always an option, please inquire: info@kajaks.ca
Additionally a 2026 membership with BC Athletics is required for all athletes. Please select a Competitive membership for 2026 here and send confirmation of the BC Athletics membership to info@kajaks.ca before April 2nd: https://athleticsreg.ca/#!/memberships/bc-athletics-2026-membership
All athletes will receive a Kajaks branded club shirt with registration, and will be eligible to borrow from the Spikes Library. Athletes are encouraged to purchase a Club Singlet for competition and to stay tuned for the Kajaks online store for your chance to get some great gear for the season ahead!
We need the help of all Kajaks Family members as Kajaks hosts the 56th annual BC Elementary Track & Field Championships (The BCEC) May 22-24th https://www.kajaks.ca/bcec
Kajaks JDs compete for free at the BCEC! Kajaks JD Families are expected to contribute volunteer hours in support of club activities, especially The BCEC - more info: https://www.kajaks.ca/volunteer
