Race week update!

It's almost here! Please find below your heat with an APPROXIMATE start time. The first race will start at 6pm. If someone runs slower than expected we will give them all the time they need to finish. I think I built generous wiggle room in the schedule but please use the schedule as a guideline only to help you know APPROXIMATELY what time you will be running. We will not go more than 5 minutes ahead of the scheduled start time but if the meet is behind schedule, just pay attention to which heat you are following and adjust accordingly. There are 7 heats. Please remember what heat you are in. I have arranged for a pacer for each heat who has been instructed to run even splits, to the best of their ability, at the seed time of the fastest racer in that heat. Thank you so much to those who volunteered to pace. The pacers are volunteers who will do their best but ultimately you are in charge of your own destiny so make a move at any time and RUN YOUR OWN RACE. Someone will be at the finish line telling you how many laps to go. There is a lap counter stand that will show in large numbers how many laps to go but if you get lapped it will only be correct for the leaders of your race, pay attention to the number we call out to you to indicate how many laps to go. There will be 2 judges at the finish line counting your laps. A bell will ring indicating final lap for each runner when you get to that exciting point of your race. Bib numbers are not necessary for this race but you will wear a numbered sticker on your chest which is very important to aid the officials who are counting your laps. I hope to have a table set up on the sidewalk beside where you enter the track. Ideally you will pick up your chest number (sticker) upon arrival. This will constitute checking into the event. Please be near the start line about 10 minutes before the start of your race. An official (probably me) will line you up on the start line according to your chest number. Everyone immediately cuts to the inside lane of the track but please do so carefully without interfering with any other runner. If any of this is confusing please email me with your questions. I've been running track since the 80's but I know this is a brand new experience for many of you. We are so looking forward to hosting you on Friday night!

Our Friday Night Lights 5000 is part of the Run Nova Scotia Road Race Series for 2025 at our beautiful track facility in Windsor, NS on the historic King's Edgehill School campus. Seeded heats (this means you will ONLY run with people your own pace), pace bunnies whatever your pace, sunset runs and racing under the lights. We can’t wait to introduce the road racing community to the fastest, safest most exciting place to race a 5k. Track attack!
There will be no medals or swag for this event, only a reasonably priced well organized event. And cookies. Lots of cookies.
IMPORTANT: a seed time (estimated performance that night) is REQUIRED. This will allow us to seed the races accordingly. The races will be be run from the slowest section to the fastest section mixed gender with no more than about 20 runners per race - and potentially fewer. A final schedule with entry names and start times will be posted by the end of Wednesday, July 30th. Registration closes Tuesday, July 29th at midnight. ALL SECTIONS SHOULD START BETWEEN 6PM AND 9:30 PM BUT BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR START TIME RACE WEEK!
