Our Fall season typically focusses more on conditioning and running using age appropriate and fun activities. Our Spring season focusses more on competition prep and teaching kids’ technical events. We use the LTAD approach. Please visit this link for more information https://athletics.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/LTAD_EN.pdf

Athletes will be divided into groups based on their interest in competing and ability to ensure they are receiving the appropriate training. There will be a recreational group and a “competitive” group. Please indicate which group you are interested in joining on the registration form. Training days, times and fees will be the same for both groups.

There are anywhere between 5 to 8 competitions in the season starting in April and ending off with the JD Provincial Champs at the end of July. Coaches will decide which competitions they would like athletes to compete in once the competition schedule has been updated. To be a member of the “competitive” group, it is expected that athletes take part in at least 3 competitions throughout the season. Competition is an important part of athlete development and coaches dedicate a lot of time and effort to prepare athletes. Competitions are usually held over the weekend. Generally, athletes may choose which events to compete in based on interest, but coaches may provide input. More information will be provided during the Spring Season.
