You know, sometimes the best things come along when you least expect them….which is funny, because maybe we should expect them. Truthfully, behind every lucky break is a lot of hours spent on the track and roads, coupled with an unbreakable persistance to cut through, and rise above past performances. That's the story of one of our guests today, Katelyn Ayers. The Canadian 1500m bronze medalist talks with us about jumping into hot races last minute, and running away with a PB and a confidence boost, as well, we'll chat with Paula Schnurr about what's cooking with the Hamilton Twilight Series this year, and we'll close out the show with a big announcement of our own.
The Terminal Mile Presents: The Innaugural TERMINAL MILE CUP
Over the past few years the Terminal Mile Podcast (found on trackie.ca) has been at the forefront of promoting competitive distance running in Canada, showcasing hundreds of Canadian athletes. From promising up and comers, to well-established, world-class caliber athletes, the Terminal Mile has covered the stories that are happening right now within our sport.
As an extension of our overall goal to promote the sport, we are pleased to announce a partnership with Harbour Track and Trackie.ca to present the inaugural Terminal Mile Cup-DMR Challenge on the evening of August 6th (Civic Holiday Monday) at the Mona Campbell Track in Hamilton.
The concept is simple, teams of 4, consisting of a 400m, 800m, 1200m and 1600m leg will race, and the fastest men's and the fastest women's team will each get their name etched into one of 2 Terminal Mile Cups, presented annually.
Of course, we've made some fast friends along the way, and a few of them will be present with their teams to chase the trophy on the ultra fast track in Hamilton. Announcements on that front will be made as we get closer to the date.
Whether you plan to put together a team, or come and support the runners, we hope to see you there.
