2024 Oceanside Track & Field Club

Please Read Carefully

- This is a club membership fee for Junior Development (JD) athletes, ages 9-13, as of Dec. 31, 2024
-Important: This is for OTFC Club registration only. The club fee does not include the BC Athletics/Athletics Canada membership fees; athletes must also register for these separately to be an active member of OTFC. Please see the links below.

*Please Note:
1. With registration, there will be a $200 Volunteer Deposit per family. * To avoid being double charged the volunteer fees, families registering more than one athlete must be sure to register your athletes at the same time. Click on the ADD REGISTRANT box at the end of your initial online registration.

Track meets are made possible by volunteers. OTFC is responsible for marshalling the javelin events at all Island Series Meets. OTFC Families will be expected to volunteer 10 hours over the season per family, (not per athlete). The $200 Volunteer Deposit will be refunded at the end of the season upon completion of 10 volunteer hours.

2. To compete, athletes require a singlet. We have new singlets this year to purchase for $40. You will not need to purchase a new singlet each year. Purchased singlets will be distributed early in the season at practice, where athletes can try them on for size. If you don’t plan to compete, you do not need to purchase a singlet. To purchase our new singlet, please select with your Club Registration.

-This is for high school aged athletes that have already paid registration through KSS or BSS, are training with the local high schools and would also like to participate in the VIAA Meets with OTFC.
-This membership includes OTFC Club Membership and our new singlet.

OTFC Code of Conduct

• Treat coaches, volunteers, teammates, competitors, parents and officials respectfully.

• Take the time to thank the officials for their help at your event at the meets.

• Take the time to congratulate all of the competitors in your event, from first to last.

• Talk over any concerns with your coaches and if you need further help, please ask your parent to speak to the coach in private after the practice, or to call the coach if the coach is busy with other athletes.

• Cheer for and support all of your teammates.

• Help each other to learn and improve whenever you can.

• Support the club and your child by getting involved in the club by volunteering at practices and meets.

• Support and cheer for all of our athletes and the efforts of the athletes from other clubs.

• Treat all of the athletes, coaches, volunteers, other parents and officials respectfully.

• Take the time to thank the officials at meets and to thank the coaches. All of these people are volunteers

• Support the coaches. This includes allowing the coaches to motivate your child for practice, help your child to set realistic goals, instruct at practices, conduct pre and post event discussion, etc. You have entrusted the care of your child to the coaches and they need to be free to do their job. If an athlete has too many coaches, it is confusing for them and their performance usually declines because they are unsure of what to do.

• Please offer any suggestions in a positive and supportive manner, at an appropriate time, so as not to interrupt the practice.

Complaints or Concern Procedures

If you as the parent have a complaint or concern that you would like to have addressed we ask that you discuss the issue with your child’s coach in a non-confrontational manner, in a private setting. If a satisfactory resolution is not achieved, please contact Head JD Coach , Jane Waite to discuss your concern.

• Treat all athletes, parents, volunteers, officials, and fellow coaches respectfully.

• Encourage every athlete to set realistic goals and help the athlete to achieve these goals in a supportive way.

• Challenge all athletes to strive for personal bests.

• Create a challenging and fun environment for the athlete

I, the undersigned, am aware that there is a certain risk of injury involved in my own or my child's participation in sport, either while travelling to or from the event; or while attending or participating in the programs or activities of the events which are sanctioned/approved by BC Athletics, its Divisions, its Member Clubs or recognized organizing societies.
