Vancouver Island Karate Society Event Participant Waiver and Consent
I understand that participation in any Vancouver Island Karate Society event, sanctioned by Karate BC, involves inherent risks including physical contact, striking and being struck, falls, sprains, strains, fractures, concussion, serious injury, paralysis, or death. I voluntarily choose to participate and agree to follow all instructions, Karate BC safety requirements, Kumite rules, and directions of instructors, coaches, officials, and organizers; to wear required protective equipment; to avoid jewelry or unsafe items; and to stop participation and notify an instructor if I feel injured, unwell, or unable to continue. I confirm that I am physically and medically able to participate and have disclosed any relevant medical condition, allergy, medication, injury, or other information that could affect my safe participation. If I am 19 years of age or older, I release and discharge the Vancouver Island Karate Society, Karate BC, and their directors, officers, instructors, coaches, officials, volunteers, agents, representatives, and host facilities from all claims, demands, actions, damages, costs, or expenses arising from my participation, including those caused by negligence, to the fullest extent permitted by law. If the participant is under 19, the parent or legal guardian signing below confirms they understand the risks, consent to the participant’s involvement, and confirm that the participant is medically able to participate. I also consent to any media content collected during participation that may be utilized for any VIKS Zone 6 and/or Karate BC related events.
