It falls within the OFSSA XC prediction window.

Seriously though....I'm happy for Cam. He looked happy in the interview and very controlled on the finishing run. Sure, he's not where he once was.....yet. But he'll get there.

It's a great race, well organized, amazing team of volunteers (anyone know where they got all the volunteers?), very fun atmosphere, great prizes and food, and a really fun atmosphere. Personally I have no answer or explanation for the lack of interest by people on the Trackie Forum.

    Why does no one care?

    1. It's not the Canadian 5K Championships it's the Greater Toronto Championships
    2. More than half the times are slower than a decent 15 year old can run.
    3. Essentially a Community event with a few decent runners.
    4. Same reason no one cares about the Canadian Track & Field Champions or Legions....it's not relevant to the majority of the country.

Does anyone know how the race played out? 14:20 is not spectacular when comparing it to the women's lead times.

According to Torontonians, all of Canada is considered the GTA

Championship events are about winning, not time. Check yourself!

    I fear for humanity.

Cam Levins is not from Toronto, right? I think he went to the Olympics and stuff too.

This thread literally makes me ill.

From Toronto and don't think that. If you're from Toronto, you're not gonna say that you're from the GTA, you're gonna say I'm from Toronto. Everything else is "outside the city."

I didn't realize Portland (Levins), Calgary (O'Connell), Langley (Inglis) etc. were all part of the GTA. Pretty impressive growth! Last year also has CPT, Brennan and Bruchet running, all of whom are based outside of Ontario.

Championship racing - you run as fast as you need to win. I'm also willing to bet Seccafien and O'Connell are faster than you, but thats just a hunch.

Yeah, you may have a point. But I have to say the Torontocentric attitude around here is very unfortunate. OFSSA predictions trump a Levins race? Kill me now.

The above comment about "it's the Greater Toronto Championships" would be read as "very few people came from outside Toronto " by most people who don't have a knee jerk reaction to the word Toronto. As for OFSAA you should attend one sometime, it's a great meet, well organized and run by teachers, but that might be for another thread
