This is the online registration page for the Zone 5 BC Winter Games Qualifier.

Residency: Athletes must permanently reside in Zone 5.

A quick reminder of the requirements:

The permanent residence of the athlete must be in Zone 5 regardless of where their dojo is.

Age Description:

Athletes must be 12 or 13 years of age as of February 23, 2024. Athletes must be born between February 24, 2010, and February 23, 2012, inclusively.

Intermediate athletes will be defined as athletes who:

Have never competed in an Advanced, Black Belt, or Elite category at the Karate BC Provincial Championships or the Canada Open Karate Championships,
Do not possess a brown or black belt in karate, and
Have never tried out nor qualified for the Karate BC Team.

Advanced athletes will be defined as athletes who do not meet the criteria for Intermediate athletes.

QUALIFIER EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS:

KATA: White Karate Gi, red/blue belts

KUMITE: White Karate Gi, red/blue belts, mouthguard, groin protector for males, WKF style gloves

OPTIONAL for the Qualifier:

Red/blue WKF style gloves (mandatory for the GAMES)
Body Protector (mandatory for the GAMES)
Chest Protector (mandatory for the GAMES)
Red/blue Shin and Foot Protectors (mandatory for the GAMES)
WKF Helmet
External body protector


Format/Rules:

Kata: Aggregate scores for two different katas

Kumite: See KBC Non-Elite 12 and over Rule Modifications.

Athletes must compete in the divisions they will compete in at the Games on February. There will be a variance of less than 2.0 cm allowed.
