This in-person workshop is designed for teachers and coaches working with athletes in ALL Track & Field events. It covers modules #6-7 of the Athletics Sport Coach Course and it falls into the NCCP Instruction Pathway.
In addition to learning the basic technical progressions for the running, jumping and throwing events, coaches will also discover the do's and don'ts of age-appropriate strength training and how to put together a weekly training program.
LOCATION, DATE & TIME: it will be held at the University of Lethbridge in Lethbridge, Alberta from 9:30a - 4:30p on Saturday December 9th and from 9:30a - 3:45p on Sunday December 10th.
For modules #1-4 of the Athletics Sport Coach Course, coaches should take the "Foundations of Coaching" prior to attending this workshop. FOC is an online course available in November on the 7, 9, 13 & 14th from 7:30 - 9:30pm.
Module #5 is called "Introduction to Long-Term Development in Athletics". It is an eLearning module available in the Locker under Athletics. And, like modules #1-4, it is highly recommended that it too should be taken before this Sport Coach Workshop.
