BC Athletics invites officials and other interested individuals to a clinic on officiating athletics events held outside the track and field stadium (e.g., road, trail, cross-country). The clinic will be held on April 7, 2024
Who Should Attend:
The webinar is targeted at officials and other participants interested in officiating athletics events held outside of the track and field stadium such as road and trail racing and cross-country events.
Purpose:
The webinar will assist participants understand the role of officiating at athletics events held outside the track and field stadium and the plan for officiating these events in BC.
The webinar will cover the following:
1) Why officiate athletic events held outside the stadium (e.g., what are AC and BC Athletics asking for)?
2) What is the plan for officiating athletics events held outside the stadium in BC (e.g., who can officiate, what events will be officiated, what training is available, is there a pathway for officials)?
3) What do officiates do when officiating athletics events held outside the stadium (e.g., roles, high level rules)?
4) What is expected of officials (e.g., length of time, number of events)?
5) What happens next (e.g., events to officiate, training, orientation)?
Format:
The 2-hour webinar will be delivered by experienced technical delegates and BC Athletics experts in the non-stadia arena.
