Wow Western looks absolutely gutted after a decent performance last year. Will be interesting to see if they can come back and repeat this year of if it was just a fluke.

Compared to their intrasquad results from last year, Western actually looks stronger this year.

Do note that last year it was 27 degrees and humid according to the results, while this years was 16 degrees and cool. That makes a big difference. Also who knows how hard of an effort this or last years was. Looks like there was a good pack.

Here's what you can take away from this:
Carson is fit.
Where's Sheffar? He's been hurt (and pounding the beers) for most of the summer, and he's clearly not 100p yet.
Western got a good group of rookies, and a couple of others have stepped up a bit which should be expected.
Finally, I wouldn't bet anything on them retaining their OUA title. Guelph looks to be pretty dominant this year. -

In comparing the 2016 team to the 2017 team based solely on the intersquad results you can not make an accurate comparison between the two teams. Both Balestrini and Roberts did not race in the 2016 race and Sirage was not in good shape at that point in the season. If you assume that all three of those runners probably should have been near or under 19 minutes at the 2016 race there is not much difference between the two teams. In fact, the 2016 team may even be considered a better team because it is likely that this year's rookies will peak early in the season and underperform in the 10k championship races Quote comment
